In the time I spent on it alone, I explored an area larger than skyrim's map. There was tons to do with loads and loads of different random encounters and discoverables (this was still in the alpha period while content and discoverables were getting added in, so there's got to be more stuff now than there was at that time) so while I can guarentee nobody is going to be able to tell you with any real certainty how big the map is until several days after release, at the least, what I can say is that for amount of content at the bare minimum, it's going to be more than worth the 60 dollar price tag - assuming your rig isn't a piece of garbage that cannot run the game. for the record that is about 37km squared, and the area I explored was negligable, despite having spent 12 hours total in the test period.
If that is indeed what you did, bumrushed the story, skipped all meaningful content including cutscenes, etc, then sucks to be you lol. To answer your SECOND question, lol, I should first ask you a question: Are you a troll? because 8 hours gets you about 5 maybe 10% through the story of RAGE UNLESS you are a Class-A fool that bumrushes only the things that say main quest then calls the game beat, which even then, 10 hours would literally be impossible. None of my fellow sponsees are that stupid. sponsees only, so for anyone to divulge information on the game, they would have to risk an incredibly high chance of a lawsuit that would completely ruin their lives. To answer your first question, that would be because the NDA did not officially end until April, and the tester pool for Rage 2 was exactly 5. The first game was less than 8 hours and a massive disappointment as it ended at what felt more like the first 1/3rd of the game.
